Resources can be transported by 
Depot, 
Truck, or 
Train.
If a Depot sees another Depot for the same resource in it's range, it will try to even out their inventories. So chains of Depots will transport resources for limited distances.
Trucks can move resources along 
Roads and carry 1 item at a time. Multiple trucks can be assigned to the same route to increase total yearly transportation.
Trains can move resources along 
Railroads. Each train has 15 wagons that can each carry 2 resources for a total of 30 resources. Trains are not able to reverse directions so train routes must be loops or contain a roundabout at each end. Multiple trains can be assigned to the same route to increase total yearly transportation.
